kitchens kitchens kitchens!

so, it looks like this whole moving thing is really going to happen.

contracts have been signed.  money has been put down.  and the fixing up of our current house... oh the projects.  every spare moment during naptime or bedtime or when julian is contentedly playing by himself for a few minutes is spent packing or taping or painting.

moving sucks.  there is no getting around it.  so to keep me sane, to keep me excited and to keep me from calling this whole thing off, i'm focusing on the fun stuff.  the new house.  the changes we get to make.  the whole point of moving is to not have to deal with renovations.  B U T  when you buy a cookie-cutter kind of house, you get to personalize it a little.  so we are making minor cosmetic changes.  adding a tile backsplash.  painting cabinets.  adding cabinet hardware.  nothing crazy.  so naturally, i'm just looking at all the dreamy kitchens over here on pinterest.  i've picked out my white tiles -- just gotta find the right shade of grey for the cabinets and the perfect bronze hardware.

and maybe convince philip to take out an upper cabinet or two for some open shelving instead  : )

that last one is my favorite.  except we aren't going the subway tile route.  lots of light, grey walls and cabinets, white tile.

and just to throw a crazy, eclectic so-alaina-style curveball, i'm really dreaming of a colorful pop of a window.  just imagine...

because an all white and grey kitchen is just way too boring.

fall faves.

well, it's officially fall here in denver.  i think.

it's a totally lame and cliche joke here in colorado that it's the only place you'll use your heating and air conditioning in the same day.  but the thing is, it's totally true.  we go from 40 degrees during the week to 80s during the weekend sometimes, with a random snowstorm thrown in, sometimes as early as october or as late as may.  so, yeah, we gotta be prepared out here.

so here are a few things i am currently obsessing over for fall that i've made my own [except you, madewell clutch - i'm comin for you!] and am totally loving.

you can bet a few of these will be in my suitcase this coming on the road with me to seattle... especially those wellies.  and that hat.  and the dress.  ok, all of it.

i'm gonna need to pay that checked bag fee.
